What we do
Following up the tango initiative in the VOXXX on Horst-Menzel-Straße by tangomarx in the mid-1990s, the exhibition “Sehnsucht aus dem Blasebalg – Concertina und Bandoneon” (Longing from the bellows- Concertina and Bandoneon) in Chemnitz at the Schloßbergmuseum in 2001 and the tango festival “Tango Industrial 2014” the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e. V. launched the project “Bewegende Klänge – Concertina & Bandoneon” in 2021 on the occasion of the Capital of Culture application. The city of Chemnitz shall be honoured as the cradle of the bandoneon through the invention of the concertina by Carl Friedrich Uhlig and through a lively tango culture in Chemnitz.
Bandoneon lessons
Bandoneon lessons will be offered regularly by Jürgen Karthe in Städtischen Musikschule and Grundschule Reichenhain.
Tango Echo organizes regular milongas in the Weltecho on Annaberger Straße.
